Our Project

This project considers an interdisciplinary project based on collaboration between the construction management specialist and the computer science specialist to develop an automated BIM-based rule-checking system regarding flood disaster regulations for single-family houses in the state of Louisiana. The system will be represented on a web-based platform. The main key-drive of this website is resilience detection and feature extraction related to floods resistant.

Our Vision

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Our project guide is intended to help the state of Louisiana and local officials integrate the I-Codes into their current floodplain management regulatory processes related to Single-Family House to satisfy the requirements of flood-disaster regulations. The benefits of coordinating building codes and floodplain management regulations include reduced duplication and conflict between requirements and improved, consistent, and thorough review, permitting, and enforcement processes.

Our Goals

The developed web-based platform provides a design validation process for single-family houses and so on regarding flood disaster resilience building regulations. The main aspects of this project are four folds:

(1) An automated BIM rules-based checking system for flood design and construction rules

(2) A web-based tool to represent the automated validation system supported by an interactive questionnaire to validate single-family houses in the state of Louisiana among flood-related resilience regulations

(3) A 3D model visualizer using an IFC viewer to disseminate flood resilience best practices, including recommendations and requirements
